Jelle Johannink takes first professional victory in Tour of Hellas

A moment Jelle Johannink will never forget. The Unibet Rose Rockets rider claimed his first professional victory during the queen stage of the Tour of Hellas, after a brutal day in Greece featuring more than 4,000 metres of climbing.

The 207-kilometre stage from Volos to Lamia tested every rider in the peloton. With multiple climbs, changing weather conditions and a fast final descent, the race was made for the strongest riders.

Rockets control the race

From the start, Unibet Rose Rockets showed their intentions. The team controlled the pace and kept Jelle in the perfect position. With three Rockets riders still present in the final group, the team delivered their leader perfectly towards the final sprint.

After more than five hours of racing, Jelle proved to have the fastest legs. He crossed the finish line first.

A special win

For Jelle, the victory was extra special. Our Dutchman is known as a rider who often works for others, making his first professional win even more meaningful.

A huge reward for the rider and the entire team.
