King of Slovakia: Lukas Kubis claims the national double
Share
Lukas Kubis has once again etched his name into Slovak cycling history. The Unibet Rose Rockets rider claimed both the Slovak National Time Trial Championship and the Slovak National Road Race Championship, completing a remarkable national double for the second time in his career.
As is tradition, the Slovak and Czech National Championships were held together, with riders from both nations competing in the same race while separate national titles were awarded. The combined event consistently delivers a high-level race, featuring some of the strongest riders from both countries on the same demanding course.
A dominant solo victory
On the challenging circuit around Jeseník, Lukas once again proved to be one of the strongest riders in the field. After an aggressive and selective race, the Slovak champion launched his decisive move in the closing stages, distancing every other Slovak contender.
Crossing the finish line alone, Lukas successfully defended his Slovak National Road Race title in commanding fashion. His performance secured a third consecutive Slovak road race championship, underlining his status as the country's leading road cyclist.
Fastest against the clock
Earlier in the week, Kubis had already claimed the Slovak National Time Trial title. Producing another outstanding ride, he proved to be the fastest Slovak rider over the race against the clock, earning the right to wear the national champion's skinsuit for another season.
By winning both disciplines, Kubis once again completed the coveted national championship double.
A proud weekend for Unibet Rose Rockets
The championship weekend marks another milestone in what has already been an outstanding performance for Kubis and Unibet Rose Rockets. Wearing the Slovak national champion's jersey has become a familiar sight over the past seasons, and the 2026 edition will once again be represented in the professional peloton.
Congratulations, Lukas, on an incredible championship weekend. We can't wait to see the Slovak champion's jersey back in action for the rest of the season!
