Victory, set-backs and UCI-points in Langkawi

Victory, set-backs and UCI-points in Langkawi

The Rockets wrapped up an eventful and successful week at the Tour of Langkawi with a stage victory and a strong overall performance. In the general classification, Cedrik Bakke Christophersen finished fifth overall, securing an important result for both the team and the UCI ranking.

The team’s goal for the Malaysian stage race was clear: to collect valuable UCI points. With Zeb Kyffin claiming an impressive stage win in stage seven, and the fifth place of Cedrik in the general classification, the Rockets flew home with 121 UCI-points and the satisfaction of having raced at a consistently high level throughout the week.

However, it wasn’t all smooth sailing in the tropical heat. The team faced setbacks as Odd Christian Eiking and Adrien Maire were both forced to abandon the race due to illness, despite sitting in strong positions in the general classification. Their absence was a blow, but the remaining riders continued to fight on, showing resilience and team spirit.

Beyond the results, the Rockets also earned three combativity awards, underlining the team’s attacking style and determination from start to finish.

Sports director Sverre Vik reflected on the week: “This race had everything. A stage win, strong teamwork, and unfortunately also some bad luck. But we showed character, and the results prove that our approach is working. Leaving Langkawi with a win and 121 UCI-points is something to be proud of.”

A rollercoaster week indeed, but one that confirms the Rockets’ upward trajectory as the season heads toward its final stretch.
